In this study, a probabilistic method for the fracture-mechanics of butt welded joint containing lack of penetration (LOP) defect is developed. In this respect, Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) in companion with finite element model (FEM), and also combined with local and global Response Surfaces, First Order Reliability Method (FORM), and Mean Value First Order Second Moment (MVFOSM) are used for the joint reliability analysis. The results indicate that the uncertainties of the parameter impacts on load carrying capacity of the joint are important.
