In this study, nano zinc oxide (nZnO) has been synthesized using microwave irradiation method. The structure characterization and morphology of zinc oxide particles were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The SEM results were revealed that the morphology of synthesized ZnO is a mixture of rod and plate form. Moreover, it was showed that the plate-like and rod-like particles have dimension in nano-scale and micro-scale, respectively. In the next step, the synthesized zinc oxide particles were treated by aminoethylamino propyl trimethoxysilane. FTIR and thermogravimetry (TGA) techniques confirmed the successful surface treatment of nZnO.
