The role and mechanism of light, in the sanctity of Islamic -Iranian architecture religious spaces

If there is a phenomenon in the world that does not need to be defined, its brightness; and there is nothing brighter than light, then light is an obvious phenomenon which has no need for definition. With attention to the obviousness of this phenomenon, it has been defined in various religions in different ways, and certain manifestations were considered for it. In most religions, light is the symbol of divine wisdom, and the source of all purity and goodness, and the exodus of man from darkness and ignorance, and shining the light of knowledge. Meanwhile, the type of attitude towards light, in architecture, under influencing the Islamic thought, reaches to its highest degree, and recognizes as the manifestation of purity and sanctity. In Islamic schools, tried which, by using from light, added to the purity and sanctity of architectural spaces, and this element has always played a powerful role in understanding the content. Therefore, the present study, by using library studies, and descriptive-analytical method, investigate the mechanism to find the role of light, in the sanctity of Islamic -Iranian architecture religious spaces.
