Groundwater Quality Evaluation of Dammam Aquifer, West of Karbala Governorate.

The study area located within Karbala and Anbar governorate, it extends from south of Al-Razaza Lake to Ain AL-Tamur sub-district in the north within Karbala province, and bounded from the west by Al-Nukhaib sub-district within Anbar province, from the east by Karbala city and from the south by Al-Najaf province, between the longitudes (42° 10 to 43° 50 ) East and latitudes (31° 30 to 32° 38 ) North. The topography elevation ranges from (27-355m a.s.l), and the estimated total area is approximately (9315 km2). The chemical analysis of (12) groundwater samples includes the determination of the concentrations of inorganic constituents, and expressed as ions comprise the cations and the anions. Also involves the salinity (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC) and acidity (pH). Comparing the quality of groundwater with the standards of different uses, shows that it is unsuitable for drinking and industrial purposes, but it is suitable for livestock, building and almost suitable for irrigation purposes.
