We investigate a theoretical model for an optomechanical force sensor in which the effect of the laser phase noise (LPN) is taken into account. It is shown that the LPN behaves as a classical source of imprecision noise which together with the mechanical thermal noise increases the power spectrum of the total system noise and makes the measurement precision get away from the standard quantum limit (SQL).
