In this paper, we address the process of quantum metrology for the error strength associated with the amplitude damping map. The behavior of the quantum Fisher information (QFI) versus the map parameter and initial state of the system is discussed and the best strategy for the estimation is proposed. Finally, the upper band on the QFI for a general map is computed analytically and it is investigated whether the upper bound is saturated or not.
