پيشرفتهاي اخير در فناوري ساخت مدارات مجتمع در اندازه هاي كوچك از يك سو و توسعه فناوري ارتباطات بي سيم از سوي ديگر زمينه ساز طراحي شبكه هاي حسگر بي سيم شده است.تفاوت اساسي اين شبكه ها ارتباط آن با محيط و پديده هاي فيزيكي است. شبكه هاي سنتي ارتباط بين انسانها و پايگاه هاي اطلاعاتي را فراهم مي كند در حالي كه شبكه ي حسگر مستقيما با جهان فيزيكي در ارتباط است با استفاده از حسگرها محيط فيزيكي را مشاهده كرده و بر اساس مشاهدات خود تصميم گيري نموده و عمليات مناسب را انجام مي دهند. نام شبكه حسگر بي سيم يك نام عمومي است براي انواع مختلف اين شبكه كه به منظورهاي خاص طراحي مي شود. با افزايش پيشرفت كامپيوتر و شبكه و اتصال مكان ها به هم شبكه سنسور بيسيم يكي از موضوعات جديد در اين زمينه تبديل شده است. اين تحقيق به بررسي پروتكل مسيريابي با استفاده از الگوريتم خفاش مي پردازد كه انرژي مصرفي را كاهش داده و پوشش آگاه مي باشد. اين شبكه ها كه مي توانند در فواصل دور به كار گرفته شوند محدوديت قدرت و توان و حافظه دارند.
