Industrial effluents are one of the major causes of environmental pollution because effluents discharged from dyeing industries are highly colored with a large amount of suspended organic solids [1,2]. Untreated disposal of this colored water into the receiving water body either causes damage to aquatic life or to human beings by their mutagenic and carcinogenic effect. As a matter of fact, the discharge of such effluents is worrying for both toxicological and environmental reasons [3,4]. Conventional wastewater treatment methods for removing dyes include physicochemical, chemical and biological methods, such as coagulation and flocculation, adsorption, ozonation, electrochemical techniques, and fungal decolonization. Among these methods adsorption has gained favour in recent years due to proven efficiency in the removal of pollutants from effluents. In this work, Sweet potato leaf powder as natural sorbent for the removal of base color of the Methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions was studied. Through batch experiments and by Spectrophotometer. For this purpose, without any chemical treatment, the leafes were washed, dried and for used in the experiment were grounded into powder (mesh size 40). Factors affecting absorption like solutions, pH, adsorbent dosage, initial concentration, contact time, ionoc strength and temperature was studied. The optimum pH for removal MB was 6. It was observed that, removal rate decrease with increasing ionic strength. By using equilibrium canstants obtaibed at different temperatures, thermodynamic parameters were calculated.
