Water pollution caused by industrial dyes is a critical problem within the several industries [1]. The removal of dyes from wastewater is promising task to protect ecosystems and environment. Organic dyes are harmful compounds with a series of unwanted toxicity and threatening the environments [2]. Daily needs for a large number of products is increasing including paper, textiles, rubber, leather, food and the same, therefore, the discharge of organic pollutants into aquatic environments is a growing problem [3]. Thus, removal of organic pollutants especially dyes from the ecosystems is active route in researches and among the various procedures adsorption is the preferred strategy [4]. Activated carbon in an environmentally benign and stable compound with numerous properties especially in catalyst and adsorption industry [5]. Activated carbon has the high absorption capacity and have been used to remove a large number of compounds such as organic and inorganic pollutants and gases in different media [6]. In this research work, sulfonic acid functionalized activated carbon has been used to remove Methyl Red dye from aqueous media. The effect of pH, amounts of Activated carbon sulfonic acid (AC-SO3H), initial Methyl Red concentration, time and kinetics of adsorption have been studied.
