Many physicochemical methods have been applied for treatment of effluent containing dyes. But, they are expensive. Adsorption has been found to be effective compared to other methods. In this work, magnetite nano particles (MNPs) was synthesised, modified with SDS and been used for removal of Rhodamine B(RB) from aqueous solutions. The removal efficiency was investigated as a function of pH, contact time, RB concentration, temperature and adsorbent amount. The experiments showed that the equilibrium was attained within 15 min using 0.05 g of the sorbent. The maximum equilibrium capacity from Langmuir model was 38.46 mg g-1. Adsorption was endothermic because ∆H was +22.43 kJ mol-1. ∆S was +102.88 J mol-1 K-1, so the system has an accidental increase in the share surface solid/solution.
