White Zeolitic Bentonites of Semnan Province, Iran, due to their mineralogy and physico-chemical
properties, have different promising potential industrial applications.
SEM and especially XRD and TGA analyses showed that in the samples of S1-RAW, S2-RAW and S4-
RAW the first clay mineral is montmorillonite and the second mineral is zeolite of the type of
clinoptilolite(The details will be included in our next paper).
The sudied physico-chemical properties include specific surface area, water adsorption, swelling index,
precipitation index, colloidal index,methylene blue index, dry and wet screen analyses, settling velocity,
moisture content, and pH values. The suitable type of the zeolitic bentonite for different industrial
applications such as drilling , foundary, and bleaching oil can be determined on the basis of the type of the
clay mineral of nanostructure montmorillonite and the role of the zeolitic type of the mineral.
