In this study, strength and failure modes of single lap composite-Aluminum bolted joints are experimentally and numerically investigated. The effects of fibers orientation, bolts arrangements and bolt clamping force on tensile strength of the composite to aluminum joints are studied. Two fibers orientations, [45/-45/02/-45/45]s and [45/-45/902/-45/45]s glass fiber-epoxy composite laminates, have been considered to investigate the effects of 0° and 90° fibers on the failure of bolted joints. Two arrangements of square and rhombus are used to joint laminated composite to 7075-T6 aluminum plate with different values of bolts clamping force. In the finite element analysis, using Tsai-Wu criterion, failure modes are investigated. Longitudinal strain in specimens containing 0° fibers are less than specimens containing 90° fibers. Greater failure strengths have been observed in specimens containing 0° fibers. Also, greater bolt clamping forces have positive influence on postponement of failure. Square bolt arrangement strength is greater than rhombus arrangement due to have more bolts in first row.
