Gender was regarded as a sociolinguistic variable, just like social class, age, ethnicity and social status. One of the most important issues in relation with language gender is the gender difference regarding the spoken written language they use. The linguistic forms used by women and men differ to some extent in all speech communities. In order to examine some of these variations, the present study aimed to investigate the differences in type of language each gender use in a typical written discourse. For this purpose, the researchers raised a rhetorical question and written answer where certain attributes were implemented in order to test different responses presented by males and females for this question. Regarding the length of utterance, findings indicate that, on average, males use 4.3 words in each comment, whereas females use 6.5 words. In relation to politeness, females appear to use more polite language than men. Finally, regarding wittiness, males seem to use more sense of humor in their comments than females do.
