Providing clean and suitable water for drinking, farming and living organisms is an essential ecosystem. Microbial contamination of rural water is a health and environmental problem especially in developing countries, and healthy water supply is one of the development indicators. The aim of this study was to determine the microbial quality of drinking water in the villages of Astaneh Ashrafieh city and the rate of utilization of these villages from healthy water from the point of view of microbial quality from autumn 1395 to summer of 1396.In this study, 107 villages of Astaneh Ashrafieh city were evaluated as the statistical population. Data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results show: The average desirable chlorine remaining in the covered villages is about 96.34% and in non-covered villages is15. 65 %.The average suitability of remaining water turbidity in covered villages is 86.77% the average suitability of the remaining water turbidity in unoccupied villages is 76/50% percent. The average desirable total and fecal coliforms of the remaining water in the villages covered by 100%and the average desirable total and fecal total coliforms of the remaining water in non-covered villages are 77.09%. The status of microbial quality of the villages covered and not covered by Abfar Co. is different. Descriptively, the microbial quality of drinking water in covered villages is consistent with the country s index and better than the non-covered villages of Abfar Company. Therefore, Abfar Company has a significant role in providing safe drinking water for the rural population.
