Considering quantitative rhythmic features of ordinary speech is a recent endeavor, which has been done by linguists. Persian language is widely acknowledged by linguists to have rhythmic organization of syllable-timed languages. Contrarily, although classical Persian poetry is based on Arabic prosody which is a stress-timed language, modern Persian poetry changes his way from the old one. In this research, quantitative rhythmic features of classical and modern Persian poetry have been considered based on the interval-based method. The results of this study demonstrated that there are significant differences between the quantitative rhythmic features of classical and modern Persian poetry so that the former is located among the stress-timed languages, while the latter contains quantitative rhythmic features that are more similar to the features of the Persian language.
