چگونگي هويت بخشي به فضاهاي شهري امروز از مسايل چالش برانگيز در معماري وشهر سازي ايران است .مطالعه واستخراج ويژگي هاي زيبايي شناختي فضاهاي شهري تاريخي ايران به منظور تداوم هويت نسخه امروز ين آنها لازم وضروري است. ميدان لزوما يك فضاي شهري نيست اما همان طور كه در تاريخ ديده شده به تدريج با قرار گيري در بافت شهر توانسته تبديل به فضايي شهري با بدنه هاي طراحي شده شود . بررسي زيبايي شناسي كالبدي اين نوع ميدان هاي تاريخي به شناخت ويژگي هاي خاص آنها مي انجامد .اغلب پژوهش هاي مرتبط با ويژگي هاي فضاهاي شهري تاريخي به صورت پراكنده وغير منسجم است براي اين منظور در اين مقاله دستاوردهايي كه پيرامون ويژگي هاي فضاهاي شهري تاريخي ايران متداولند مورد مطالعه قرار مي دهيم. ويژگي هاي متداول شهري از اين قراراند هر فضا براي اينكه تعريف شودبايد عنصري تحديد كننده داشته باشد در تمام فضاهاي شهري به وفور گوشه هاي راست وتاكيد در محورهاي تقارن ديده مي شود در دسترسي به تمام فضاهاي شهري ايراني همواره يك تداوم فضايي وجود داشته است با بررسي اين ويژگي ها و طبقه بندي آنها در قالب اصول زيبايي شناسانه مي توان لايه هاي نظام حاكم بر عناصر ميدان وچگونگي تركيب آنها را نتيجه گيري كرد.در پايان لايه هاي نظام حاكم بر ميدان ها به طور خلاصه به صورت نظام عناصر شامل نظام هاي عناصر معماري عناصر طبيعي عناصر مصنوع ثابت وموقت و نظام تركيب شامل نظام تركيب عناصر نظام هندسي نظام فضايي نظام رنگ ونور ونظام مصالح تقسيم بندي مي شوند.

How to identify todays urban spaces is one of the most challenging issues in Irans architecture and urbanization. The study of the aesthetic features of Iranian historic urban spaces is necessary in order to maintain the identity of todays edition of the Yen. Most researches relating to the characteristics of historical urban spaces are scattered and non coherent.
