The Herbarium of Macroalgae at the In stitute for Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Univer sity of Veracruz (ICIMAP-UV-AL), Boca del Río, Veracruz, Mexico, contains specimens collected along the northern coast of Yucatan Peninsula in 2008-2012 and 2018 during field trips f rom El Cuyo on the east to Celestún on the we st,mainly in the zone 200 m from the coastline, b y snorkeling down to 5 m depth. Specimens were detached from the substrate manually or with a knife, placed in plastic bags together w ith surrounding water and fixed with 37% formal dehyde to a final concentration of 4%. Afterwards, they were air dried and mounted on Bristol paper 39.0x27.5 cm; at present it contains 508 herbarium sheets, including 346 duplicates avail able for both national and international interch ange.In total, 40 species from 27 genera (not considering tiny epiphytes) were identified, of whi ch 24species belong to Chlorophyta, 12 to Rhodop hyta (Acanthophoraspicifera, Agardhiellaraamosissima, Bryothamnionseaforthii, Ceramiumcorniculatum, C. nitens, Ch ondriasp., Digenia simplex, Euchemaisiforme, Gracilariatikvahiae, Heterosiphoniagibbesii, JaniarubensandLaurenciasp.) and four to Phaeophyceae (Cystoseira sp., Dictyota sp., Halopterisfilicina, Padina sp.). Halopterisfilicina is a new record for the southern Gulf of Mexico. It has been previously reported from the Mediterranean Sea, Great Britain, Irela nd, Scandinavia, Turkey, Florida, Bahamas, Afric a, Japan and New Zealand. Most of the herbari um sheets have the species of Caulerpa, followed by Udotea, Halimeda andPenicillus, while the generaAcanthophora, Acetabularia, Acicular ia, Agardhiella, Anadyomene,Avrainvillea ,Batophora, Bryothamnion,Ceramium, Chaetomorpha, Chondria, Cystoseira, Dictyota,Digenia, Enteromorpha, Euchema, Gracilaria, Halopteris, Heterosiphonia, Jania, Laurencia, Pad inaand Ulva represent the rest of species. Other s ections of the herbarium contain specimens of macroalgae from other states of the Gulf of Mexi co (Veracruz and Campeche), as well as from the Mexican Pacific (Baja California Sur) collected since 2005.
