The work reports a new method for synthesize of zinc ferrite nanostructures. The method is based on sol-gel route. The nanostructures are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS). Using the techniques the crystalline phase and band gap of samples are studied. The XRD results confirm the formation of cubic zinc ferrite nanostructures. Also, zinc ferrite nanoparticles show an optical band gap value of 1.93 eV.
