Electrodialysis is a technique based on the transport of ions through selective membranes under the influence of an electrical field. Separation of ammonium sulfate by electrodialysis (ED) was modeled based on experimental data. The model was developed by use of a differential equation of mass balance by regarding the time. Neglecting resistances of ion-exchange membranes compared with resistances of bulk solutions in dilute and concentrate compartments and substituting a relation for solution resistance as a function of concentration, the final one-parameter model was obtained. The model parameter was determined by the experimental data. This model gives the time required to get a desired concentration in the dilute compartment for various voltages and flow rates. To validate the model, the predicted data were compared with experimental data
