The modified (styrene – maleic anhydride) copolymer (modified SMA) in different concentrations is blended with polyethersulfone (PES) to prepare the nanofiltration membranes through phase inversion. The modified SMA is synthesized by diethanolamine (DEA) during the estrification reaction is occurred between of the hydroxyl groups of DEA and anhydride groups. Scan electron microscopy (SEM) is used to determine the morphology; it indicated that the membranes having the asymmetric structure and porosity is also increased in blended membranes. When the content of modified SMA is increased, PWF and contact angle are increased and decreased, respectively. It is revealed that the hydrophilicity of membranes surface is improved
