In this paper has been tried to resolve the problem of a centrifugal compressor failure. Tilting pad bearing has been damaged several times. The vibration trends show significant rise and there is wear debris in the oil samples. With respect to the spectrum analysis and maintenance history, it is predicted that unbalanced thrust forces are the main problem. Condition monitoring of the equipment shows leakage across labyrinth seal of balance piston and wrong pre-stretch force of the diaphragm coupling are the main roots.
