In this article we present an overview on the application and challenges of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) technology and its application in steam injection for Enhanced Oil Recovery(EOR). After a review of this application in the world, its feasibility on one of the Iranian oilfields is presented. The applicability of solar energy as an energy resource for generating steam in steam injection process is studied and the Koh-e-Mond oilfield was considered as an appropriate candidate because it is an undeveloped heavy oil reservoir with suitable condition for steam injection application. This field is located in an area with ample Direct Solar Insolation(DNI) rate and short distance from sea to access required water. Some economical aspects for implementing the Solar Enhanced Oil Recovery(SEOR) project like total return(TR) and total cost(TC) in the Koh-e-Mond oilfield are considered. In addition of economic analysis, we consider reservoir engineering and environmental aspect in our analysis.
