CO2 hydrate slurry has been used in several practical applications such as CO2 capture, CO2 storage, transportation and CO2 sequestration processes. However, CO2 hydrate slurry is generally formed at low temperature and high pressure. The objectives of this study are to develop new promoter to form CO2 hydrate at moderate pressure, and to investigate the effects of Fe2O3 nanoparticles with Tetrahydrofuran (THF) additive on the equilibrium formation conditions of CO2 hydrate. THF is used as an additive and nano particles such as Fe2O3 are used to accelerate the rate of kinetics of hydrate formation . In this work, Fe2O3 has shown a promotion effect on CO2 - THF hydrate equilibrium formation conditions. It is found that adding 0.025g Fe2O3 nanoparticles in presence of 1% mol THF, the equilibrium temperature was enhanced about 2°C. Moreover, 0.1g Fe2O3 nanoparticles increased equilibrium temperature about 2°C using the same aqueous-THF mixture. One can conclude, the different concentration of nanoparticles presents almost the same effect on the equilibrium hydrate temperature. Finally, this work indicates that Fe2O3 nanoparticles demonstrates a significant effect on hydrate equilibrium while the pervious studies was insisting on nanoparticles kinetic effect.
