In this study, a mixed matrix membrane (MMM) composed of PVDF as polymeric phase and ZIF-8 as inorganic filler was synthesized, characterized, and compared with the pure PVDF. The used loading of ZIF-8 in the PVDF phase was 10 wt%. The structural properties of the resultant membrane were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), which confirmed excellent compatibility and well distribution of ZIF-8 in PVDF phase. Moreover, we have employed different solvents (DMAc, THF, DMF and Chloroform) to evaluate their ability in dissolving ZIF-8. The results showed an excellent solubility of ZIF-8 in DMAc (up to at least 2 hours no sedimentation was observed).
