The immiscible liquid-liquid mixing devices are widely used in process industries. There is limited information on the mixing in these devices. The mixing process of dispersed phase is rather different from single phase mixing or continuous phase in the two phase system. The homogeneity of this phase is reached by the droplet interaction in the dispersed phase. In this paper, mixing in the dispersed phase was studied in an immiscible liquid-liquid stirred tank using planer laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) technique. The effects of the volume percentage of dispersed phase and the monitoring zone were investigated. The monitoring zone influences the experimental results due to the impeller flow pattern. The mixing time reduces when the volume percentage of dispersed phase increases. The outcome of this study would be used for industrial applications dealing with complex mixing systems.
