The epoxidation of Styrene – butadiene rubber (SBR) is carried out in chloroform /acetone/water solution using in situ –
generated dimethyldioxirane as oxidant in presence of phase transfer catalyst (PTC). The process of reaction is
monitored by 1HNMR spectroscopy. It was demonstrated that the epoxidation of SBR is second order and corresponds
to a first order to the content of double bonds. The rate constant as well as the activation energy was established.
