Nano-structured CeO2 catalyst has been synthesized via precipitation method for total oxidation of toluene. The
properties of the synthesized catalyst have been extensively investigated by a variety of techniques like XRD, SEM,
FTIR and BET analysis which fully describe the characterization of the catalyst. The prepared CeO2 had small particle
size and relatively large BET surface area which confer high activity. The XRD patterns showed that synthesized cerium
oxide is less crystalline compared to reference cerium oxide. The SEM images reflected that the synthesized samples
have nanoparticles less than 100 nanometer. The high activity of synthesized nano-catalysts represents them as a
suitable catalyst in treatment of waste gas streams.
