A general full factorial design with two replicates has been carried out to study the effect of reinforcement filler, silica
, oil, antiozonant and sulfur on tearing behavior of natural rubber/cis poly- butadiene rubber based tire tread compound.
It was observed that tearing behavior improves when adding silica and oil and when decreasing sulfur content. In the
next stage a mathematical model for each failure property has been proposed based on regression and statistical analysis
. The governing mechanisms on tearing has been discussed based on main effect plots and mathematical models.
