Nano-structured of new Hg(II) coordination polymer, [Hg2(bpbpbua)Br4]n CP and NCP (CP=Coordination Polymer and NCP=Nano Coordination Polymer) (bpbpbua = bi(2-pyridyl)bi(phenyl) 1,4-butane-diamine), have been synthesized by the reaction of mixture Hg(I) acetate and KBr with bpbpbua by both hydrothermal and sonochemical methods. Reaction condition, such as thermal, time, concentration and initial reagents is play important roles in the size, morphology and crystal growth of the final products. The nano-sized HgBr2 and HgO were prepared from NCP [Hg2(bpbpbua)Br4]n (NCP) by calcinations at vacuum and air atmospheres, respectively. The structure of CP and NCP were determined by X-ray crystallography X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Thermal stability of these CP and NCP at bulk and nanosized were studied and compared with each other. Biological studies of these CP, NCP, HgO and HgBr2 were tested by both gram positive and gram negative microbes respectively.
