Formal analysis of the ornaments of the Quran scroll in the Chester Beatty museum

كتابت قرآن و تزئينات آن در دوره صفوي در ايران، از تنوع بيشتري برخوردار بوده است. يكي از شيوه هاي نگارش قرآن، بصورت رولي است كه از نمونه هاي آن مي توان از قرآن رولي كه در كتابخانه چستربيتي دوبلين قرار دارد، نام برد. تزئينات و آرايه هاي قرآن، معمولا از صفحات آغازين، افتتاحيه ، نشان داخل متن و نشان هاي حاشيه تشكيل شده اند. به نظر مي رسد آرايه ها و تزئينات و تذهيب قرآن هاي رولي در عين داشتن شباهت به نسخه هاي معمولي، داراي تفاوت هايي نيز هست. حال سوال اصلي اين پژوهش اين است كه قرآن رولي نسخه چستربيتي داراي چه خط و تزئيناتي بوده و اين تزئينات از چه ساختاري برخوردارند. هدف از اين پژوهش دستيابي به شيوه هاي اجرايي و تزئيني قرآن هاي رولي در اين نسخه است. براي دستيابي به پاسخ سوالات و اهداف پژوهش، روش توصيفي تحليلي مناسب است. داده هاي پژوهش از منابع كتابخانه اي و تصاوير از سايت كتابخانه چستربيتي گرفته شده است. نتايج به دست آمده نشان مي دهد كه در قرآن رولي براي صفحات آغازين از تزئينات بند ختايي استفاده شده كه در بين آنها از كتيبه هاي لوزي، پلكاني، شمسه اي با خطوط كوفي بنايي استفاده كرده اند. بالاي سرسوره و سوره فاتحه الكتاب، لوح تذهيب الوان مرصّع به رنگ زمينه لاجورد قرار دارد كه بر اثر رولي بودن و دور خود پيچيده شدن، در برخي از قسمت ها رنگ هايش ريخته شده است. در متن و حاشيه نسخه به جز نشان فصل آيات هيچ نشان ديگري ديده نمي شود. ديگر ويژگي ممتاز اين نسخه، استفاده از خط كوفي بنايي دورتا دور متن اصلي است در حالي كه اين خط براي تزئينات مساجد و ابنيه مذهبي رايج تر بوده است.

Writing the Quran and its decoration has enjoyed more variety in the Safavid era. One of the ways of writing the Quran is writing it on a paper roll which for an instance of it we can refer to the paper roll Quran which is in the Chester Beatty library located in Dublin. Quran s decorations and ornaments usually consists of homepages, opening pages, in-text marks and margin marks. It seems that while the ornaments and decorations and illuminations of paper roll Qurans have some similarities to the standard versions, they have some differences as well. Now the main question of this research is what decorations and script does the Chester Beatty version of roll paper Quran have and what structure do these decorations have. The goal of this research is to acquire the executive and decorative methods of the paper roll Qurans of this version. To acquire the answers to the questions and the goal of this research, the analytical method is suitable. The research data has been derived from library resources and the pictures are from the Chester Beatty library website. Results show that in paper roll Quran, arabesque decorations have been used for the homepages and among these paper roll Qurans, Diamond, staircase and sun like inscriptions with Bannai script have been used. There is an inlaid illumination tablet in Azure background above Fatiha-al-Kitab surah which the color has fallen off in some parts due to it being a paper roll and rolled. In the text and margin of this version, other than Surah stop signs no other sign can be seen. Another excellent feature of this version is the use of Bannai script all around the main text while it had been more common in decorating the mosques and religious buildings
