In this paper, the constructal multi scale design and optimization of an offset-strip plate fin heat exchanger (PFHE) is presented. In contrast with typical heat exchangers the constructal plate fin heat exchangers (CPFHE) consists of more than one core and obeys constructal multi scale design. This paper deals with evaluation of performance of an off-strip plate fin heat exchanger which consists of up to three construct. The continuous parameters of off-strip fins facilitate the flexibility of the design. For better comparison all the heat exchangers will be simulated and optimized at constant volume, heat transfer area and pressure drop and the objective function is to maximize energy recovery between streams. This will be carried out by geometric, hydraulic and thermal modeling of CPFHE. A recuperator of a typical gas turbine cycle is chosen as case study to maximize the energy recovered from outlet flow gas to inlet air to the combustion chamber and optimization demonstrates considerable improvement in CPFHE rather than typical PFHE.
