The Sombor index is a novel vertex-degree-based graph invariant introduced by Ivan Gutman in 2021. Recently, a variant of the Sombor index namely the irregularity Sombor index was put forward as a measure of irregularity in graphs. Our purpose is to establish a sharp lower bound on the irregularity Sombor index of trees based on the maximum degree and to characterize the extremal trees reach the lower bound.
