In this paper, an all optical material sensor is designed based on a L-cavity photonic crystal structure. The geometrical parameters of the photonic crystal L-cavity is defined. The function of the optical sensor is on the basis of modification of optical field distribution pattern and light intensity within the structure in the presence of different materials. The materials utilized in this research work are some noble materials like Ag, Au, Al and some dielectric materials such as GaAs, Al2o3, and InP.
