پژوهش حاضر به بررسي اين موضوع مي پردازد كه آيا استفاده از فناوري اطلاعات كنوني و اصول مختلف توليد ناب لازم و ملزوم يكديگر هستند يا هيچ ارتباطي ميان آن دو وجود ندارد. اين پژوهش از به اصطلاح توانايي هاي سازماني مبتني بر فناوري اطلاعات براي بررسي روابط بين فناوري اطلاعات، توليد ناب و بهبود عملكرد كسب و كار كمك مي گيرد. داده هاي اين پژوهش با استفاده از نظرسنجي مبتني بر پرسشنامه از 231 توليد كننده در توليد فطعات خودرو بدست آمده است. براي تجزيه و تحليل داده ها از روش معادلات ساختاري و نرم افزار اسمارت پي ال اس استفاده شد. يافته ها حاكي از آن است كه توليد ناب و فناوري اطلاعات متقابلاً به يكديگر وابسته بوده و با پياده سازي و اجراي بيشتر سيستم توليد ناب مي توان ارزش سرمايه گذاري فناوري اطلاعات را به شكلي موثر به بهبود عملكرد كسب و كار براي توليد كنندگان قطعات خودرو تبديل نمود. شايستگي فناوري پيشرفته توليد يك قابليت واسطه اي ارزشمند است كه سرمايه گذاري در فناوري اطلاعات را به پياده سازي سيستم توليد ناب پيوند مي دهد. سرمايه گذاري در فناوري اطلاعات يكي از حداقل الزامات پياده سازي و اجراي سيستم توليد ناب براي كسب و كار مورد بررسي مي باشد و ارزش سرمايه گذاري فناوري اطلاعات زماني واقعاً به پياده سازي و اجراي سيستم توليد ناب تبديل مي شود كه سرمايه گذاري هاي فناوري اطلاعات پيشرفته توليد اجرايي شايسته اي را براي مديريت موثر تمام فرآيندهاي توليد ارائه دهد. مديران در زمان ارزيابي ارزش تجاري فناوري اطلاعات و توليد ناب مي بايست از جداسازي معيارهاي عملكرد صرفاً در مواردي نظير مقياس هاي خالص مالي اجتناب كنند.
