In this article, the parameters affecting the net mass of material deposited on the surface per unit of time (real mass flow rate) and the ratio of the mass of powder added to the surface to the mass of powder exiting the nozzle (mass efficiency) are discussed. These parameters include laser power, laser scanning speed, and powder injection rate. The results show that the laser power has the greatest effect on mass efficiency, so the scanning speed and the powder injection rate from the nozzle are in the next rank respectively. Finally, statistical optimization was done to achieve the highest mass efficiency and the fastest part manufacturing speed. The predictions of the statistical model were in good agreement with the experimental results.
