In this study, the compatibility behavior of dyes in mixtures has been assessed using a characterized scanner by the application of principal component method (PCA) proposed by Khalili and Amirshahi. Different color set, including colorchecker DC and textile colorchart, which made during the present research, were used as training and testing set in the colorimetric characterization of the scanner by employing linear regression method. A well-known dip-test method was used to dye samples in different binary combination of cationic and acid dyes on acrylic and wool fabrics, respectively. The samples were scanned by characterized scanner and the tristimulus values were obtained. The tristimulus values were used for reconstruction of reflectance using PCA method. The corresponding K/S value of reconstructed reflectance were calculated and PCA method was applied on them. Then the percentage value (PV), which is the criteria of dye compatibility, was obtained. The results shows a very significant correlation between PVs obtained from reconstructed reflectance using scanner and corresponding one which calculated from measured reflectance using spectrophotometer.
