Study on color characteristics of wool dyed with crude and extracted prangos ferulacea natural dye

In this work, Prangos ferulacea was used as representative case to study the color characteristics and shade depth of an extracted solid plant dye. The natural dyestuff was extracted, pulverized, and examined in conventional exhaust dyeing experiments of wool yarns. Shade and color yield were found to be much better than dyeings obtained with direct use of crude plant. It was concluded that use of an extracted natural dye product offers new approaches with regard to obviate the problems associated with crude plant material quality, handling and applicable dyeing techniques.
