In this study, the correlation of four color difference formulae, i.e., DE1976, DE94, DECMC and DE2000 with various colorimetric fu nctions of white fabrics treated with different fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs) was studied. In this way, the differences between 30 treated white fabrics and a chemically bleached cotton fabric as the reference sample were calculated in terms of whiteness index (ΔWI), tinting factor (ΔTw), lightness (ΔY) and chromaticity coordinates (Δx, Δy). Then, the coefficients of determination between four color difference formulae and the differential functions of white samples were calculated. Based on the results, all color difference formulae show the highest correlation with the ΔWI function and the lowest correlation was obtained for the ΔTw values. Besides, the maximum and the minimum correlations between four color difference formulae and the differential whiteness index was obtained for the DE94 and DE2000 equations, respectively.
