Effectual parameters on dyeing of woolen yarns by pistacia atlantica fruits as a natural dye and its fastness

The ability of natural dyes to color textiles has been known since ancient times. Wool is one of the fibers which have been dyed with natural dyes for several years. The goal of this research is dyeing of wool yarns with pistacia atlantica fruits as a natural dyestuff. Regarding this matter, wool yarns were dyed with this dyestuff under different acid and mordant. Dyeing was carried out with pre-mordanting, simultaneous mordanting and post-mordanting methods. After dyeing, light and wash fastnesses of samples were tested by standard test methods. The results indicate that change in acid and mordant types are important factors in shade of wool yarns. In addition, the light and wash fastness of sample dyed with ferrous sulfate, copper sulfate and potassium dichromate are higher than other mordant samples. -
