In this paper it is shown that the natural heat transfer coefficient around a vertical heated flat plate with constant temperature boundary condition is measured by moiré deflectometry. Spatial temperature distribution around the object and heat transfer coefficient is estimated by knowing the refractive index in different points of environment. Obtained results are good accordance between numerical results are calculated by Fluent software. Among the optical methods suitable for evaluating thermal fields, this technique deserves attention for its relative simplicity ease of application, low cost and satisfactory accuracy of results.
