Weak Disposability in Dealing with Undesirable Outputs in DEA: Review and New Results with an Empirical Study

The axiom of weak disposability is frequently used in data envelopment analysis (DEA) models involving undesirable outputs. This paper gives a review of the recent approaches in this area in DEA framework with an especial focus on the developments given by Kuosmanen (2005) and Färe and Grosskopf (2003). Some new results from the dual formulations, examples and an empirical application to the U.S power plants are used to make a comparison and illustration the approaches
