In this research different percent of cement (3 and 6 and 9 %) were used for improving strength
of a glycerol contaminated clay soil at different curing times (3, 7, 14 and 28 days). The soilcement
and soil-glycerol-cement samples were made with static compaction according to the
maximum dry density and optimum water content of Standard Proctor Compaction tests.
Unconfined compression tests were conducted on 53 soil-cement and soil-glycerol-cement
samples with different curing times. In addition a regression model was proposed for
predicting soil strength based on experimental data. Results showed a reduction in strength of
soil samples due to contamination to glycerol and this reduction was a function of
contamination percent. The results also showed that at 6% and 9% contamination soil-cementglycerol
samples strength was less than the corresponding soil-cement samples. The proposed
models include the percent of cement, percent of glycerol and curing time. Comparison between the
model predictions and the experimental results showed that the proposed models can satisfactorily predict
the strength by considering the percent of cement and glycerol at defined curing times.
