The analysis of wave propagation through a jointed rock masses is one of the most important issues for solving problems in petroleum, rock dynamics, geophysics, civil engineering and military industries. Rock masses consist of intact rock material and various forms of discontinuities. The discontinuous nature of the rock masses significantly affects their mechanical properties and engineering behaviours including wave propagation. The purpose of this paper is to study theoretical analysis and numerical modelling of wave propagation in single joint. Numerical modelling was used using UDEC software based on discreet element method. Based on the propagator matrix method (PMM) and combination with displacement discontinuity method (DDM) and plane wave analysis, the reflection-transmission coefficients after wave propagating through the rock masses with a single joint has been studied
