Abstract- A modeling procedure for predicting creep phenomenon in glass reinforced polyester pipe is developed. The
method consists of two main phases. Firstly, a comprehensive model for predicting creep in lamina is proposed such
that minimum experimental activities are required. Then, an iterative modeling is constructed extending the results of
lamina simulation to the corresponding laminate. This phase includes both stress analysis executed using finite element
modeling and also material degradation properties with respect to the time. The failure status is carefully investigated
in each time step using obtained stress/strain values and appropriate failure criteria taking into account mode of
failure. As a case study, the developed modeling procedure is conducted for predicting long-term behavior of a specific
GRP pipe. A comparison between real experimental data and theoretical modeling is presented. The developed
modeling can be applied to any composite structures and is not limited to the case of GRP pipes.
