Innovative considerations to a cell formation problem

The purpose of this paper is to develop a variety of cell formation problem (CFP) using sequence data and new considerations. There are many studies in literature devoted to CFP regarding sequence data; but most of them just have applied the inter-cell movements for clustering different machines and similar parts in form of cells. So in this paper, some variety of handling cost components and additional cost of utilizing a machine in a cell differs from related part’s cell, are identified. Then a mathematical model will be presented which applies these considerations to achieve a more practical model in cellular manufacturing system (CMS). Two benchmark examples will be solved by proposed model. Results demonstrate the preference of new model in comparison with previous ones
