This paper presents a Multi-objective optimal design of simply supported asymmetric laminated composite
rectangular plates subjected to linearly varying in-plane static loads for which the critical failure mode is buckling. The
aim of the multi-objective function is to maximize the buckling load capacity and minimize the thickness of laminated
plates and the fiber orientation, layer thickness, and number of layer are considered as design variables. The buckling
problem of laminated plate is analyzed by Rayleigh–Ritz method. For Multi-objective optimization, Non-dominated
Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) method is used. A MATLAB code was written for the purposes. The effect of
thickness, number of layers, fiber orientation and aspect ratio on the results are investigated and compared.
