Wear has important, negative effects on the functioning of engine parts. Oil analysis is one of the applied methods to determine the wear rate of the oil in order to prevent the failure of the machine. In this paper we use oil analysis method to study the amount of different elements, wear indicators (e.g. PQ), and physical and chemical characteristics of the oil with the purpose of preventing the FM١٣ diesel engine from breakdown. The amounts of Fe, Si, Na, and PQ are in unallowable range that could be the reason of bearings and cylinders’ bush abrasion. The existence of the failed bearings and cylinders’ bush after disengaging the engine verified our results.
