Target tracking is one of the main applications of wireless sensor network (WSN). The major challenge in designing of target tracking approaches is to deal with the energyand computational limitations of the sensor nodes. To address this issue, relay strategies providing cooperative diversity inWSN have received considerable attention. Among proposed techniques, amplify-and-forward (AF) technique because of its simplicity and low computing time/power consumption is morepractical in WSN. Therefore, we propose a AF scheme, which allocate the total power to best relays which are selected tomaximize signal to noise (SNR) ratio. To multiple relay selection, the recent idea of relay ordering function based on instantaneous forward and backward channels is used. Simulation results demonstrate that proposed technique provides full diversity and significantly better performance than schemes with participation of all relay nodes with equal global power constraint
