A variety of methods such as flocculation, adsorption, coagulation, flotation and nanofiltration were proposed to remove contaminants from wastewater, which have not received much attention due to the economic and technical reasons. In recent years, the membrane technology has been used in various industries due to its simplicity of operation and high efficiency. In this study, the use of MEUF to remove contaminants from wastewater has been studied. This method combines the filtration process and surface active substances that have the ability to remove low molecular weight substances from wastewater. Research has shown that MEUF and nanofiltration process have the same capacity for removing contaminants from wastewater, but MEUF process requires less energy and lower operating pressure. Also, studies have shown that this process can reduce heavy metals up to 99 percent, AOX up to 80 percent, and can significantly reduce color. In this paper, the removal of various compounds from wastewater has been addressed.
