An almost unprecedented amount of discussion has been stimulated on the merits and demerits of genetic engineering of crop plants and has divided both the public and scientific communities. The arguments for and against transgenic are invariable based on vision of the new technology from widely different ethical perspectives (Robinson, 1999).
GM Technology was first developed in the 1970s, one of the most prominent development, a part from the medical application, has been development of noval transgenic crop plant vatieties. GM technology has been used to produce a variety of crop plants todartes, primarilty with Market led traits , some of which have become commercially succssful
